Oh you insubstantial thing, do you not know that I love you as my greatest treasure? + |
If you were to drive through the desert and you saw a little plateau, why would you not suspect that all the rock sloping down from its sides had experienced the force of erosion, wind and rain? On the day of your journey through the desert, it would be amazing to see that such forces were at work even as you drove by.
It may not be raining as you pass, but how else can you explain the evidence of your own eyes?
If it is stormy and frightening with vivid lightening flashes and startling thunder, will it not pass as the stream of the atmosphere rushes on? Just so, trust in the Lord, that He will bring low the mountain in your path, and still the thundering violence of the wind and air.
Today was not given to regret the past or dread the future, but that God might be with you, and you might experience His embrace. Why are you in the quiet garden if not to feel the warmth of His embrace?
Often times, when watching a video of a strange and captivating place of solitude I think, "Now that is where I should make my hermitage", and the Lord replies, "you are with me and I pass through places and you have not seen the world I have seen because you have so little time."
Yet, ours is all of eternity if we embrace our Creator and do not sadden Him with our sins.
Journey on, and see all He has to show, and trust that you will sleep fully satisfied.
